The EA-18G Growler first went into production in 2004 and made its first flight in 2006. The Growler is a variant of the F/A-18 family of aircraft and combines the F/A-18F Super Hornet platform with electronic warfare. This aircraft specializes in jamming enemy defense systems and protecting U.S. electronic systems. In 2015, it officially finished replacing the EA-6B Prowler, the U.S. Navy’s previous electronic warfare aircraft.
